Estonia reiterated on Tuesday 15 April, 2025, its firm support for Morocco’s autonomy plan, initially proposed in April 2007, as a realistic and credible solution to the long-standing dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

In an official statement, the Estonian government described the Moroccan initiative as “a good, serious, and credible basis for a mutually agreed solution between the parties.” Estonia also encouraged other governments to align with this position, underscoring the need for broader international support for a political resolution grounded in compromise and realism.

The reaffirmation reflects Estonia’s continued engagement with international peace efforts and its alignment with United Nations-led initiatives to resolve the conflict in a peaceful and sustainable manner.

In the same context, Estonia commended the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI and recognized Morocco’s proactive role as a pillar of peace, stability, and development in the region. Tallinn praised Rabat’s constructive diplomacy and its contributions to regional cooperation across Africa and the Mediterranean.

The renewed expression of support from Estonia highlights growing international backing for Morocco’s autonomy proposal as the most viable path toward a lasting settlement of the Sahara issue.
